Relax away wrinkles with Dysport, Xeomin, or Botox Cosmetic in Kirkland WA

Dr. Mark Tseng is well known as a skilled plastic surgeon, but he also offers a variety of premier nonsurgical aesthetic treatments at his Auburn and Kirkland, WA offices. One of the most requested is Botox Cosmetic, which is popular for its ability to temporarily smooth away crow’s feet. Dr. Tseng also offers Dysport and Xeomin, which are similar formulas with similar uses.

How wrinkle relaxers work?

Technically, there are two types of Botox. The formulas are the same, but indications and dosage are different. Botox is for sweating, migraines, and other medical uses, while Botox Cosmetic is for wrinkles and fine lines. Further confusing the issue, there are multiple brands with very similar (though not identical) formulas that are used for cosmetic applications. In keeping with our commitment to quality, we offer Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, and Xeomin, all of which are excellent products. Subtle differences might make one a better choice for a specific patient, which Dr. Tseng will discuss during your consultation.

These products work on a very specific type of wrinkle, which is caused by muscle rigidity.

  • Common facial expressions involve the same tiny muscles, which are used many times a day. Over the years, those muscles become hypercontracted, causing lines and wrinkles in overlying skin.
  • Botox and similar formulas are not direct muscle relaxers. Instead, the regulate the nerve signals that cause those muscles to relax.
  • The action of these medications is localized, so it is injected exactly where it is needed. For example, an injection of Botox in your forehead will smooth frown lines but will not spread to other areas of your face.

About the procedure

During your pre-treatment evaluation we will determine which muscles are responsible for fine lines and wrinkles. Tiny amounts of Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, or Xeomin is injected directly into those muscles. Most commonly, injection sites are around the eyes, between the brows, and on the forehead.

Anesthesia is not required, as the injections are quite gentle, although we do offer topical numbing if you wish. The procedure is completed in minutes, with no downtime. The results are not instant but develop gradually within a few days to a week. Treatment can be repeated as needed (usually every six weeks) to maintain results.
